The hottest favourite of the day, Emerald Band, got beaten by a very good horse, Candy Apple. Emerald Band had a tough race as he was forced to race one off Henry Tudor from the start. He seemed to have made the break at the beginning of the straight but he faded out afterwards. Candy Apple (B. Sooful) was the best finisher. He drew clear easily to win his second race in a row.
