A property developer has been identified. Construction to begin in 2022.
According to a source at the Mauritius Africa Fund (MAF), seven international promoters responded to the April 2021 Expression of Interest for a potential investor-developer for Mauritius World Trade Center, the iconic 50 storey tower in Cote d’Or Technology Park. One investor-developer has recently been selected, and construction is programmed to start in 2022.
In parallel, the World Trade Centers Association is currently providing training to the staff of the Mauritius Africa Fund to improve its capacity to deliver world-class trade services. By the end of 2021, the Mauritius Africa Fund should announce a set of incentives and benefits to companies who wish to be part of the project.
The World Trade Centers Association is a network of 317 World Trade Centers licensees spread across 91 regions in the world, including Africa.
The Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Dr. Padayachy, has himself announced the Government’s decision to go ahead with this project in May 2021, as part of the national response to the 2020 economic downturn.
