Man Dies Of An Electric Shock

Abdool Fareed Emambocus, 50 years old and a resident of Brisée-Verdière, who worked as a Principal Cooperative Officer at the Farmer Service Centre in Rose-Belle, died on the morning of Monday, October 4, after receiving an electric shock. His body was discovered at NHDC, Lallmatie submerged up to his chest in a sewage canal and holding an earth wire in his hand. Dr. Sudesh Kumar Gungadin, head of the forensic department of the police attributed his death to shock due to electrocution.

It was around 10:45 am on Monday, October 4 that police officers from Lallmatie police station went to NHDC housing estate, Lallmatie following a request. Fareed Emamboccus was discovered lifeless, lying on his back and his head immersed in a sewage canal. He was holding an earthen wire in his hand from a store.

The victim was identified by his wife, 48 years old, who works as a Principal Registration Officer. The body of Fareed Emamboccus was later taken to the morgue of the Dr. A.G. Jeetoo Hospital, Port-Louis for an autopsy. The autopsy performed by Dr. Gungadin attributed his death to a shock due to electrocution.

The funeral of Fareed Emamboccus took place in the evening of Monday, October 4 in Brisée-Verdière. An investigation has been opened to shed light on the exact circumstances of this electrocution.
