LPM Demands The General Resignation Of The Government And The Opposition In 48 Hours

Must Read

Members of Linion Pep Morisien’s commented on the news of the week, including the slippage in Parliament and the acts of the Speaker in the Parliament, the high cost of living and the malfunctioning of the government and institutions, but especially, the resignation of Sherry Singh. Linion Pep Morisien’s press conference was held in Rose Hill on Friday 08 July.

Bruneau Laurette commented on the Prime Minister’s statements and questioned, “If he said that he is not Sherry Singh’s employer, how can he personally call to give an instruction to allow a foreign Indian team the right to a place closed to the public“, as he recalls that Mauritius Telecom is a private company, which is governed by a Board of Directors, including those of France Telecom. He pointed out that for him, the PM had contradicted himself. “Pravind Jugnath has claimed that he had not been in communication with Sherry Singh for a long time and soon afterwards, he confirmed that he had asked him to authorize the Indian team”.

He spoke about the protection of national security information, which should remain with the sovereign country. He linked this to the use of the spyware “Pegasus, which has been named by the Indian Supreme Court, against its use”. He also explained that if a country wants to control another country, “the strategy is to take control of its energy infrastructure and its communication sector. “

Given the grievances outlined, Bruneau Laurette delivered, “If this government has the interest of the people at heart, members of the government and the Opposition must resign within the next 48 hours.” He also asked the President of the Republic to wake up, but also, the Mauritians! Bruneau Laurette even threatened that after these 48 hours, that is on Monday, “if there is no resignation, our party will consult for the actions to follow“.

Rama Valayden spoke of a “confidential military agreement that Mauritius, unlike the Seychelles, has made with India and that it has not been made public. It was President Ramkelawon who made this revelation and got Seychelles out of the deal. One of the conditions was to integrate the country’s systems at any time. Rama Valayden attributed the Standing Order applied by the Speaker as a way for the latter to save the Prime Minister from answering. He invited all political parties, trade unions, NGOs and the entire population to unite to defeat this government on 07 August 2022, in commemoration of the 07 August 1967 when Mauritians voted for the Independence of Mauritius. Rama Valayden also said that “we are currently writing to all members of the Lok Sabha and Raja Sabha, the two political bodies of Parliament in India. And we will make our letter public by Monday, in a sign of respect, as soon as they get them”.

The LPM members each acclaimed Sherry Singh’s courage and sense of patriotism in resigning as head of Mauritius Telecom. The fact remains that neither the ‘earth-shattering revelations’ have not been made nor the evidence, such as documents and records.
