Le Mur 2021 Triathlon : Laurent L’Entêté Makes A Strong Impression

Must Read

Laurent L’Entêté finished in fourth place in a time of 1:30:51 at the Le Mur triathlon held last Sunday, October 31, 2021 at Trou d’Eau in La Saline les Bains, Reunion Island. The victory went to David Hauss from Reunion Island, bronze medalist at the European Championship in 2010.

He crossed the wall. Laurent L’Entêté had to struggle to get over the altitude difference of +600m on the bike and +140m in the run, but he completed the event (750m swim-20km bike-5km run) and reached his goal.

“I decided to enter this event to prepare for the Indian Ocean Triathlon in three weeks. These two events have similarities in terms of elevation changes. So it was a race to get my legs in shape for the rest of the 2021 season,” he said.

For his first participation in a triathlon on Reunion Island, Laurent L’Entêté was not intimidated by the strong opposition and the physically demanding course. He came out of the water in first place but was caught by seven opponents on the bike portion before making a strong comeback in the run which was run on the sand.

“I am fully satisfied with my performance and a better knowledge of the course would have allowed me to go faster on the bike. I thank my parents and my sponsors who made my trip possible as well as the aquatic club of Chaudron and all those who helped me in Reunion Island,” he said.

The reigning national champion will now focus on defending his shot at the national championship next December but before that he will line up at the Indian Ocean Triathlon (IOT) on November 20.
