Must Read

SBM Bank (Mauritius) Ltd is one of the official sponsors of Club Maurice, the Mauritian team taking part in the 2023 Indian Ocean Island Games to be held from August 25 to September 3 in Madagascar. The announcement was made on Thursday August 10, 2023 at the signing of a partnership agreement with Club Maurice in the presence of the Honorable Stephan Toussaint, Minister of Youth Empowerment, Sports and Leisure, at the Côte d’Or National Sports Complex.

SBM Bank (Mauritius) Ltd has always worked to promote the practice of sport, at both amateur and professional levels. This commitment has materialized through various initiatives, including the 10th edition of the Indian Ocean Island Games (IOIG) in 2019, as ‘platinum sponsor’, and the sponsorship, in 2022, of the African Senior Athletics Championships, the SBM Mauritius Gymkhana Club Grass Tennis Open and the CJSOI Games. Today, as one of Club Maurice’s main sponsors for the 11th edition of the JIOI, the bank is further committed to promoting sport through support for our athletes.

“We are proud to renew our ties with the Indian Ocean Island Games by supporting the Mauritian team. The Indian Ocean Games symbolize the culmination of our athletes’ efforts, and we hope that with this new partnership we can help promote our local sporting talent and contribute to their success. We are convinced that Club Mauritius will raise the profile of our island by promoting excellence, fair play and inclusiveness”, says Mr. Sanjaiye Rawoteea, Acting Chief Executive Officer of SBM Bank (Mauritius) Ltd.

This partnership underlines SBM’s commitment to improving the well-being of our fellow citizens, one of the pillars of the SBM Group Sustainability Agenda. By promoting local athletes and, consequently, the practice of sport, SBM Bank (Mauritius) Ltd intends not only to contribute to improving the health of the Mauritian population, but also to create sporting role models for future generations.
