The Malartic Sports Complex, which is located in Quatre-Bornes, was inaugurated on Sunday, May 15, by the Minister of Environment, Solid Waste Management and Climate Change, Kavydass Ramano, in the presence of the Private Secretary to Parliament (PPS), Tania Diolle.
On this occasion, Minister Ramano stressed that the efforts of the government have led to several infrastructural developments for the welfare of the people of the region. He also indicated that the students of the government school, Emilienne Rochecouste will be able to use this complex. In addition, he added, a shelter was built in the schoolyard.
During the inauguration, the Minister encouraged the people of the region to engage in social interaction, recreation and sports activities. Kavydass Ramano also reiterated how crucial it is to engage in sports activities, especially in this stressful world we live in.
For her part, PPS Tania Doille emphasized that the Malartic Sports Complex will benefit all local residents. They will be able to maintain a healthy lifestyle, de-stress and spend relaxing moments with their families. In addition, PPS has observed that the world is facing many challenges at this time such as Covid-19 and its impact on the economy. It thus encourages everyone to combat stress through leisure and sports activities that the government offers.
In line with a cleaner and greener Mauritius, the Minister of Environment has committed to the improvement of the Malartic Sports Complex, which consists of the rehabilitation of the petanque court, the replacement of the fences and the construction of wooden kiosks at a cost of Rs 1,388,625. The objective of this project is to improve the quality of the environment for the well-being of the residents and the general public.
