Must Read

A 49-year-old woman working as a chauffeur was seriously attacked with a sabre in her backyard in Surinam by a masked man. The masked man, wearing a monkey cap, struck her several times with his sword on both hands in the early hours of Wednesday morning, April 4. Seriously injured, she was taken to Souillac hospital by her concubine for treatment before being transferred to Jawaharlall Nehru hospital in Rose-Belle, where she was admitted.

Police Sergeant Jognee of the Souillac police station went to the victim’s bedside after being alerted by the Souillac hospital Police Post. A 26-year-old woman who lives at the same address as the victim explained that a quarter of an hour earlier, at around 5 a.m. on Thursday April 4, she took her concubine to hospital after she was attacked in her yard by an individual wearing a monkey cap.  Both her hands were injured.

After being examined by a doctor at Souillac hospital, the victim was transferred to Rose-Belle hospital.  After receiving treatment, she was admitted to the ward. In her statement, she explained that she was about to get into her van, which was parked in her backyard, when a masked man wearing a black T-shirt approached her from behind and inflicted four blows with sand. She tried to dodge the blows by raising her hands.

An investigation has been launched by the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) of Souillac to trace the perpetrator of this attack.
