There will be three new trainers for the 2023 season. They are Yannick Perdrau, Yashin Emamdee and the South African Gareth Van Zyl.
A total of 20 trainers holds a license from the Horse Racing Division (HRD) for the new season. Among the newcomers there is Gareth Van Zyl. He is the son of South-African trainer Gavin Van Zyl. He has a good record in South-Africa. He will embark for a new adventure in Mauritius with ten horses (Master Of Illusion, Fassi, Battle Of Alesia, The Eighth Lord, Castle Of Glass, Bollinger, Stageworld, Poetic Licence, Summerdale, Executive Decision).
Yannick Perdrau acted for a long time as an ‘assistant’ to his father Alain Perdrau. He will have ten horses (Special Blend, Action Packed, Royal Italian, Night King, Universe Boss, French Rebel, Duke Of Abercorn, Shesh Besh, Lead Singer, Northern Rebel) under his charge to start.
Yashin Emamdee, after having worked as ‘Stable Supervisor’ within the Gujadhur stable, will start with eight horses (Ninotto, Nightingale Lane, Rite Of Passage, Trying Times, On A High Note, Ultimate Warrior, Chestnut Cove, Perfect Pursuit).
It is to be noted that trainer Rameshwar Gujadhur has sold most of his horses and he has only four remaining in his yard with The Gatekeeper, Bag Of Tricks, Balouchi and Elmo. Red Impact, who is in quarantine, will join the stable.
