Horse Racing : Rameshwar Gujadhur Still Waiting For His Trainer’s Licence

The Horse Racing Division (HRD) has approved the licences of 15 trainers out of the 16 having horses in training at the Champ-de-mars racecourse. The only one still waiting for his licence is Rameshwar Gujadhur who was the champion trainer in 2020 and finished fourth in 2021. He has already bought new horses for the 2022 season, and among one of the best newcomers who is The Gatekeeper (SAF Rating: 108). His application is in process, and he will obtain his licence shortly according to the HRD.

The trainers who already got their licences are: Simon Jones, Ramapatee Gujadhur, Somraj Mahadia, Preetam Daby, Raj Ramdin, Gilbert Rousset, Ricky Maingard, Shirish Narang, Praveen Nagadoo, Amar Sewdyal, Vincent Allet, Patrick Merven, Shyam Hurchund, Alain Perdrau and Dr Vicky Ruhee.

17 Mauritian jockeys, 7 apprentices, 2 stable supervisors, and 6 assistant trainers, who are Dr Hemant Kumar Gujadhur, Hacksaye Sookoo, Sudesh Seesurrun, Vinay Naiko, Hemraz Awotar and Camille Merven have also got their licences for the 2022 racing season.

More names will be added to the list below in the next weeks.

MTCSL Horse racing organiser’s license

MTC Sports and Leisure Ltd. stated in a clarification: “As it relates to obtaining our license from the Horse Racing Division (HRD), MTCSL would like to reassure the general public that all required documents will be submitted to the HRD by the deadline of April 7, 2022. An extension that was kindly granted to us following a request to the authorities last week.
