New Abbey from pillar to post
The two mares New Abbey and Dunzie stole the show. New Abbey was very speedy and she kept on going in the final straight with Brazilian jockey Ivaldo Santana on board. She touched the finishing line with more than three lengths clear in front of Dunzie who finished strongly. It was the first win for New Abbey in Mauritius.

Race 2 – 1400m – (B36)
Easy win for Thomas Henry
He was just an outsider because of his bad draw, but Thomas Henry finally won easily. Mauritian jockey, Yashin Emamdee took Thomas Henry out of the gates quickly and he found a place one-off in third position. The Rampatee Gujadhur’s trained horse was travelling well and he made the break easily in the final straight to win in front of El Patron. The big favourite Brabanzio was one-paced at the finish and he took the third place.

Watch Me Dad better than Captain Gone Wild
He took the second place on his last outing. Watch Me Dad was the clear favourite of the race after the withdrawal of Chapter And Verse just before the start. The Gilbert Rousset’s trained horse had a dream race behind the leader. Mauritian jockey Dinesh Sooful waited for the gap to open on the inside in the finale straight to put the pressure on his horse. Watch Me Dad finished strongly and he proved to be better than Captain Gone Wild.

Course 4 – 1850m – B31
Great finish for Pforzheim
He was a beaten favourite last week. His trainer, Praveen Nagadoo decided to try his luck for the second consecutive week by nominating Pforzheim in an 1850m race. It was the first time for the horse over such a long trip. Pforzheim followed in last position and he finished strongly bagging his first win in Mauritius. It was also the first win of the season for apprentice Nabil Sheik Batchameah.

Colour My Fate never in doubt
He was the big favourite of the race and he was right there. Colour My Fate hit the front easily and the hardest part of the job was done. Jockey Swapneel Rama relaxed his horse well, and Colour My fate made the break before entering the final straight. He did not fade in the last meters of the race to win easily in front of Var And Away.

Triple Fate Line strikes again
He bounced back as expected. Triple Fate Line bagged his third win of the season in the feature race. The gelding was ridden to perfection by Brazilian jockey Ivaldo Santana. He took the lead after the start, but he did not insist when other horses came to challenged him. Santana waited for the final straight to push the button on Triple Fate Line. He fought on gamely with Rob Roy in the last 100m, and Triple Fate Line finally won it.

Promising debut for Nourbese
Horse racing fans were eager to see the first race of Nourbese in Mauritius. He was one of the best 3 years old in South Africa and he is expected to be one of the beat at the Champ-de-mars. The Ricky Maingard trained gelding was confidently ridden by South-African jockey Piere Corne Orffer. He waited patiently for the gap to open in the final straight and Nourbese made the difference easily to win in a canter.

Stageworld breaks the ice
All was set for Stageworld to score his first win. He had a good draw and was in great form at the training. Stageworld enjoyed a nice trip behind the leaders. Mauritian jockey Rai Joorawon waited for the final straight to put some pressure on his horse. And Stageworld drew clear easily to win. Manetheren finished second in front of Xenon.
