The Annual General Assembly of the Mauritius Turf Club (MTC) was held on Friday at the club’s headquarters. The members elected a new board of directors. Me Gavin Glover became president.
Gavin Glover became President of the Mauritius Turf Club for the second time after his 2011 mandate. The lawyer was named chairman after a meeting of the new team held early Friday evening.
Four elected candidates were already known before the poll. Bertrand Rivalland and Philippe Hardy for a period of one year and Gavin Glover and Pursooramrye Kallychurun for a period of two years.
The match was between four candidates for the two positions of Administrators for a period of three years. Out of 261 voters, 110 were present while 151 did the necessary via proxy.
Big favourite, Santosh Kumar Gujadhur came out first with 242 votes. He was elected ahead of Nathalie Henry with 131 votes. She thus becomes the very first woman, in the MTC’s 210 years of existence, to sit on the board of directors.
The voting and counting exercise took place under the supervision of the Electoral Commissioner, Irfan Rahman.
