A 16-year-old boy from the village of Quartier-Militaire went to the Dr Bruno Cheong hospital in Flacq for treatment with a 58-year-old form after being physically punished by his father. This is because his father saw him in a photo and also on a video smoking cigarettes and drinking a brand of vodka.
Accompanied by his mother, he went to Flacq police station at around 12 noon on Friday 21 July to report a case of child abuse. He said that on Sunday 16 July he went to his father’s house in Poste La Fayette. In the evening, at around 8pm, his father took out his mobile phone and he saw photos and a video of him smoking cigarettes and drinking alcoholic beverages with his cousin.
His furious father began slapping her, punching her in the face and on the back before grabbing a piece of wood and attacking her with it. The teenager, who says she was injured, went to hospital for treatment. He also pointed out that his father had intimidated him into not revealing how he had been injured.
