Golden Globes 2024: Oppenheimer Bags Five Awards Including Best Picture

World War II based Oppenheimer shined bright at the 81st Golden Globe Awards on Sunday. The movie was 2023’s Hollywood blockbuster which was based on father of the atomic bomb J. Robert Oppenheimer won five awards.

In the Television category, Succession, based on the story of a media-mogul family, bagged leading four prizes including best drama series. The show ran from 2018-2023, and ended last May.

The Globes made a number of other changes, including adding two new categories: one for stand-up comedy special, which was won by five-time host Ricky Gervais, and another for best blockbuster movie, which went to “Barbie.” Similar to “Oppenheimer,” “Barbie” was an unexpected box office hit.
