A policewoman from the Family Protection Brigade recorded a report of molestation in the early evening of Monday April 15. The 8-year-old victim, who lives in Rivière du Rempart, gave her statement in the presence of an aunt at the Pamplemousses police station, denouncing her maternal uncle.
In her complaint, she explained that her maternal uncle, a 60-year-old man from Castel, had touched her clothes on two occasions. However, she says she can’t remember the date. The first time was in the car on the way from Pont Praslin to Castel, and the second while she was watching television.
The little girl, whose parents are separated, lives with her mother. It was when she went to her father’s house on Friday April 12 that she was granted access. It was in the late afternoon of Sunday February 14 that she confided in her father about the matter.
She has been admitted to the Hôpital du Nord to follow the protocol for victims of sexual abuse. She had already been seen by a psychologist assigned to the Child Development Unit at Goodlands.
The suspect was wanted by the police.
