Spread out in every corner of her house in Curepipe, Avita Neeyastah cultivates 200 varieties of plants: “I have been a plant lover since I was noticeably young. This passion was accentuated when I got married and found myself with a yard that I quickly transformed into a garden with the blessing of my husband,” explains this civil servant.
To expand her collection, Avita created a group on Facebook: “Three years ago, I created a Facebook group that allowed me to enrich my collection by exchanging cuttings with other enthusiasts. Today the group has more than 17,000 members who display, trade and sell their plants on this platform.”
Percy Mungur inherited his passion for gardening when his mother passed away: “When my mom passed away, I was left with her entire collection of plants that she had spent years putting together. As an only child, I had to take care of it, and it became my passion.
