Fun Day For The Children Of Social Assistance Recipients

A Children’s Fun Day, aimed at offering leisure activities to children whose families are registered under the Social Register of Mauritius (SRM) and to promote the healthy development of these children, was held on Sunday at Flic en Flac Beach. The objective was likewise to provide children of SRM eligible beneficiaries with the opportunity to socialise with their peers, improve their communication skills, enhance their self-esteem, and further promote their autonomy.

The Fun Day was organised by the Ministry of Social Integration, Social Security and National Solidarity, in collaboration with the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China, and the National Empowerment Foundation, in the context of the school holidays.

The Minister of Social Integration, Social Security and National Solidarity, Mrs Fazila Jeewa-Daureeawoo; the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in Mauritius, Mr Zhu Liying; and other personalities were present.

In a statement, Minister Jeewa-Daureeawoo highlighted the need for children to lead a balanced life between learning and recreational activities. She remarked that since school holidays are currently ongoing, the Children’s Fun Day is contributing to the growth and welfare of children whose families are on the SRM.

For his part, the Chinese Ambassador emphasised that the Embassy attaches a lot of importance to the interests of vulnerable families. One of the missions of the Chinese Embassy is to make the population benefit from the friendly and cooperation ties that exist between our two countries, he also indicated.

Around 115 children, aged between 08 years to 15 years, registered under the SRM and from coming the Plaines Wilhems District, were targeted for the Fun Day.

Leisure activities proposed included jumping castle, face painting, quiz games, live animation with dancing and singing, and a magic show.
