Former Minister Ashit Gungah Withdraws His Remarks About Betamax

Must Read

The case, one of contempt of court, was called in the Supreme Court yesterday. The former Minister of Commerce expressed regret over the remarks he made at a press conference on December 2, 2017. He clarified in Court yesterday that he had no intention of disrespecting the Court or interfering with the administration of justice. As a reminder, Ashit Gungah and Etienne Sinatambou are being prosecuted for contempt of court by Betamax.

In a press conference, Gungah and Sinatambou, both Ministers in 2017, had termed Betamax’s decision to move the Karnataka Court to stop an STC tanker from leaving Mangalore Port as unpatriotic and irresponsible.  There were several cases before the Mauritian and Indian courts at the time. However, Etienne Sinatambou was unwell and could not attend the Court.
