Must Read

Father Laurent Rivet will give a virtual spiritual concert this Sunday 5 September at 5pm. Broadcast live from the J&J auditorium, the event is an invitation to strengthen one’s faith.

Preparations are well underway for Father Rivet’s first virtual concert. The one-and-a-half hour concert will be broadcast live in a private Facebook group: “We had planned this concert long before the health crisis. But because of Covid-19, we preferred to hold the concert virtually. To participate, all you had to do was make a payment of Rs 100 through Juice, PayPal or a bank transfer and then get a link that will give you access to the concert,” explains Father Rivet – the chaplain of the parish of St Helene in Curepipe.

Father Rivet is also the head of the 39th edition of the Vocation Festival, which will take place on 26 September. This year, the theme chosen is ‘Sakenn dan so parwas, nou tou ensam’: “Once again, because of the health situation, there will be no national gathering. However, we invite each parish to organise a meeting of 50 people. In the morning, there will be testimonies. After lunch, there will be a televised mass by Bishop Piat.

The festival also aims to raise funds to finance the formation of seminarians: “There are currently 11 seminarians in formation. Their studies amount to Rs 12 million. Mauritians who wish to contribute will have more information on how to do so from 7 September,” said Father Laurent Rivet, who is also in charge of the vocations service of the diocese of Port-Louis.
