Drugs: Peaceful March In Port-Louis, Many Political Figures Present

Must Read

The peaceful march to raise awareness of the dangers of drugs is an initiative of the Madrassah Taleemul Islaam and the Forces Vives de la Rue Gorah Issac, which brought together more than a hundred people, including many political figures. We find the Deputy Prime Minister, Anwar Husnoo and several members of the Labor Party, MMM and PMSD.

The President of the Forces Vives of Gorah Issac, Imam Reeyad asked parents to be vigilant and ensure that their children do not fall into the trap of drugs. He maintained that he will have a meeting with the high ranking police officers to find a solution against the drug traffickers in the region.

As for the Deputy Prime Minister, Dr. Anwar Husnoo, he acknowledges that drug dealers have returned to this part of the capital, which makes many young people victims of drugs. According to him, the drug affects even entire families and he added that he will inform the concerned authorities of the extent of this scourge so that appropriate measures are taken.

For the deputy of the Labor Party, Shakeel Mohamed, the government’s strategy to fight against drugs has failed. He wonders why the recommendations of the Lam Shang Leen Commission have not been implemented.  It is true that there are many seizures, but this is useless because it does not eliminate the problem.

His colleague, Eshan Juman denounces an increased lack of alternatives for young people in the face of this scourge.

Present in the crowd, Raouf Khodabocus maintained that no matter how much drugs are seized, twice as much enters the country.
