Anton, a Russian national, is being actively sought by police officers from the Northern Division in connection with a rape case. A complaint was lodged against him on July 5. One of his compatriots, a 34-year-old software developer, accused him of sexually abusing her while she was in a state of shock on the evening of June 29. In the presence of her lawyer, the thirty-year-old reported the sexual abuse she suffered at her alleged assailant’s apartment in Cap Malheureux to the Grand Baie police station. She arrived in Mauritius on June 2 and had obtained a Visa Premium card to stay until June 5, 2024.
During her stay in Pereybère, she met a Russian national whom she knows as Anton. Anton, 30, is also a software developer. On June 29, he invited her to his apartment, where she arrived at around 7pm. They had a few alcoholic drinks on the terrace before going inside. At one point, she says she fell into a drowsy state, but remembers her compatriot kissing her on the lips. When she reproached him for this, he stopped and said he was going to bed.
However, she adds that she found him on top of her and having sex without her consent. She protested but he then took her into a bathroom to shower before turning her over in bed. When she woke up, all her clothes were on the floor. She got dressed and left the apartment in a hurry. The Russian woman said she was traumatized by her compatriot’s act. She asked to be examined by a forensic pathologist.
