Must Read

China has imposed lockdown in many cities across the country including Wuhan which was the epicenter of the coronavirus in December 2019. The lockdown is imposed under the new term of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s zero-Covid policy.

Zhengzhou city, world’s largest iPhone manufacturing plant, also came under lockdown. A small number of employees of Foxconn- a big manufacturer of Apple have been infected by the coronavirus. This might affect the manufacturing of Apple’s latest phone, iPhone 14. The strict measure was taken after over 1000 cases were reported for three consecutive days.

Until October 24, nearly 28 cities were following some degree of lockdown, in which around 207 million people were affected in areas that formed almost a quarter of China’s GDP.

Almost 200 lockdowns have been imposed across China recently, affecting people that have been categorized as high or medium risk. Lockdown has been imposed according to low, medium or high-risk zone. Therefore, people follow different rules according to their zones.

25 fresh infections a day are accounted in Wuhan this week alone, accounting for 200 cases over the previous two weeks.

Earlier this week, in-person schooling and dining in at restaurants were suspended in the southern Chinese hub of Guangzhou – which on Thursday reported 19 new virus cases, Some neighborhoods in the city also remain subject to various control measures.

In spite of what are considered to be minor outbreaks in other areas of the world, China follows a stringent zero-Covid policy in which the government works to eradicate outbreaks.
