Nando Bodha and two other persons, namely Mr Rajaratnam and Kailash Trilochun, have jointly lodged a complaint with the Supreme Court calling for a judicial review of the Prime Minister’s decision to advise the President of the Republic to postpone the municipal elections. The leader of the Rassemblement Mauricien spoke to the press after the complaint was lodged. “We are asking the courts to review the Prime Minister’s decision to advise the President of the Republic to postpone the municipal elections following the vote on the Local Government Act. In our view, this decision is illegal, unconstitutional, and undemocratic. It is a purely political decision. It goes against democracy because it violates the sacred right of citizens to vote”, he declared, adding that the right to vote is sacred.
