Barca Legend Gerard Piqué To Retire This Weekend

Gerard Piqué, 35, has announced that he will hang his boots this Saturday, after Barcelona’s La Liga game against Almeria.

The Spaniard has had a successful career. With Barcelona, Piqué has won 8 La Liga titles, 7 Copa del Rey titles, 6 Supercopa de Espana, 3 Champions Leagues, 3 UEFA Super Cup and 3 Fifa Club World Cup. With Manchester United, he has won 3 titles; 1 Premier League title, one Champions League and a Community shield.

Besides club football, Piqué played an important role for his country’s success in numerous competitions. With Spain’s National team, Piqué has 102 caps where he scored 5 goals. He was part of the Spanish side which won the FIFA World Cup in 2010 and the Euro in 2012. He was also successful with the U19s of his national team, winning the Euro U-19s with Spain, in 2006.

After splitting with Shakira and having a tough season full of criticism this year, the Spaniard is retiring after a career of 18 years in professional football.
