Altercation: Three Family Members Admitted To Clinic

Must Read

An altercation between a young driver and two occupants of a truck escalated into a fight at Plateau Road, Goodlands on Sunday, April 10. An obstruction caused by this truck on this road would be at the origin of this altercation. The young driver was manhandled by the two occupants of the truck and called his parents. The situation then degenerated into a bloody fight. Five people were injured. The driver of the car and his parents were admitted to a clinic, while the two occupants of the truck were treated at the northern hospital.

An investigation has been initiated at the Goodlands police station to get to the bottom of this case. It all started at around 12:45 on Sunday, April 10, when a resident of the coastal village of Grand Gaube received a call on her cell phone. This director of a construction company was at home with her other 15-year-old son and her husband.

Her 23 year old son, in a panic, informed her, “de dimoun pe rod laguer are mwa”. He had an altercation with a driver and his son who were in a truck. This vehicle was blocking the passage on this road. His small family then went to meet him. This did not help matters. There was an exchange of blows and the occupants of the truck attacked them with an iron bar and a knife. They were able to disarm one of the two men who was holding a knife, before they fled.

The young driver and his parents went to a clinic in Grand Bay for treatment where they were admitted. The driver of the truck and his son went to the northern hospital for treatment. The two families are blaming each other.
