Alleged Drug Trafficker Was Preparing To Sneak Out Of The Country

Former kickboxing athlete Angelo Raoul Thomas, 32, who was preparing to sneak out of the country by sea was arrested by the Special Intelligence Cell (SIC) of the Special Supporting Unit (SSU). The resident of Roche-Bois, who is being prosecuted for two drug trafficking cases before the Port-Louis court and the Supreme Court respectively, was apprehended in a van on Route Royale in Mont-Choisy in the afternoon of Monday, August 1. They were brought before the court of Pamplemousses this Tuesday morning, August 2, under a provisional charge of money laundering.

It is based on certain information that the men of the SIC, led by the chief inspector Rajcoomar Seewoo that this operation was mounted. Thus, a van of the brand Mitsubishi of orange color was intercepted on the road of Mont Choisy. Angelo Thomas who was sitting in the front passenger seat and the young woman who lives in Roches-Brunes was sitting in the back seats. Six pieces of luggage were discovered in this vehicle. Questioned about it they both remained silent.

They were taken to the SIC office in the Central Barracks for questioning. In a backpack, one of these police officers a sum of 9 950 euros, or Rs 457 700. Confronted with this evidence, they once again remained without comment. They were both arrested under a provisional charge of money laundering.
