African Triathlon Cup: L’Entêté And Staub In Action In Zimbabwe

Must Read

The two best local triathletes of the moment, Laurent L’Entêté and Julie Staub, will be in action this Saturday in Troutbek, Zimbabwe for the African Cup of Triathlon. Three other young triathletes from the Youth category will also be there.

A good opportunity is presented to these two Mauritians who will compete against triathletes from the African and European continents. The Olympic distance will not be on the program of this competition and thus, our two compatriots will be engaged in the sprint triathlon (750 m swimming-20km cycling-5km running).

Laurent L’Entêté and Julie Staub had a good warm-up on March 19 in Pointe d’Esny where they competed in an Olympic distance under scorching heat. And in Troutbek the conditions will be even more difficult as the race will be held at an altitude of more than 1,500 m.

“This will be my first competition at high altitude. The course is very hard with several climbs. I will give it my all to be able to make the best possible ranking”, said Laurent L’Entêté.

The latter had to give up a participation in the Port Elizabeth triathlon in Africa, because he had tested positive to Covid 19 a few days before his departure.

This competition in Troutbek will also see the participation of three young Mauritians namely Riya Dhurma, Adrien Toulet and Raphaël Gérard. They will participate in a course held by the African Triathlon Union (ATU) until April 10.

The Mauritian delegation that left Mauritius last Wednesday is accompanied by Alain St Louis, president of the Mauritian Triathlon Federation, the coach and Axel Adam who acts as coach.
