35 Years Of The Nelson Mandela Centre: Donation Of Vaccines To Rwanda And Zimbabwe

Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth has announced that Mauritius will donate Covid 19 vaccine to Rwanda and Zimbabwe, as was the case for Madagascar.

The announcement was made on Wednesday 27 October on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the Nelson Mandela Centre at La Tour Koenig.

The Mauritian Prime Minister recalled that Mauritius helps in its own way friendly countries and stressed that the country is taking steps to get closer and closer to the African people and also to African political leaders.

Pravind Jugnauth who also took the opportunity to thank the countries of the black continent that have supported Mauritius in its struggle for sovereignty over the Chagos.

The Prime Minister also added that the cultural heritage must be preserved at all costs. And that his government has the mission to promote African and Creole cultures in Mauritius. Africa is one of the continents that contributed to our settlement and we are all children of immigrants from all over the world. And this is the greatest wealth of the country according to him.

It was also the occasion for the opening of a space lar, as its name indicates, which will be dedicated to art in all its forms.

Avinash Teeluck, the Minister of Art and Cultural Heritage, added that it is our duty to value and promote the culture of our ancestors. He also took the opportunity to add that Sir Anerood Jugnauth would be proud to see the evolution of the centre and the promotion of the Creole language.
