21-Year-Old In Serious Condition After Accident In Henrietta

It took the intervention of the Mauritius Fire and Rescue Service (MFRS) to pull a 21 year old driver from the wheel of his car on the evening of Wednesday July 13. The car of the Toyota brand ended up against a concrete electric pylon. This was after hitting first a wooden pylon of Mauritius Telecom (MT) and a concrete and sheet metal fence on the left side of the Royale Road in Henrietta. The young driver, who was unconscious, could not be submitted to a breathalyzer test.

This accident occurred shortly before 11:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 13. The car, driven by this young man, struck a wooden MT tower on Royal Road in Henrietta. The vehicle continued on its way to hit a concrete and sheet metal fence before ending up against a concrete electrical tower.

The concrete and sheet metal wall, the wooden tower and the car were damaged. The driver was seriously injured. A MFRS team was called to the scene of the accident to extricate the driver from his vehicle. He was taken care of by the personnel of an ambulance of the Emergency Medical Service to be taken to the Victoria Hospital, Candos. He underwent surgery in the early morning hours of Thursday, July 14. At the time of the accident, he was driving towards Glen-Park.

An investigation was initiated at the level of the police station of Vacoas to shed light on the exact circumstances of this accident.
