The leader of the Labour Party in Parliament held a press conference on Friday and commented lengthily on the invasion of Ukraine by Russia. Arvin Boolell believes that the sovereignty of a state must prevail. He condemned this military action of Vladimir Putin.
According to him, the priority remains the evacuation of Mauritians and commented on some remarks by the Mauritian Ambassador to Russia, Dr. Chandan Jankee that he considers as inappropriate. In this regard, MP Eshan Juman said he had spoken to our Ambassador.
The Labour Party also commented on the situation of 3 boats which are stranded off Pointe de Sables and Bain des Dames. For Arvin Boolell, the President of the Mauritius Ports Authority should have taken the floor to announce the intended measures. He pointed out the absence of the Chairman and his officers who are not in Mauritius whereby Dr. Arvin Boolell questions: “What have they gone to Dubai for?”
MP Eshan Juman claimed he has information that the government is planning to purchase 4.7 million Molnupiravir tablets. This is against the figures of 200-300 cases of infection. He then asked the Minister of Health to come forward and comment on the health situation.
