Must Read

“…mo pou fer zot ale depi la”. That’s what a 34-year-old welder and drug addict told his sister-in-law after damaging her cell phone, a circuit breaker and several panels of glass on the evening of Thursday, November 16. After giving his statement for domestic violence, the suspect, who lives on Sainte Croix, was apprehended. After spending the first night in a cell at the Plaine-Verte police station, he was brought before the Port-Louis court on Friday November 17.

It was at around 11pm on the evening of Thursday November 16 that the 30-year-old victim went to Abercrombie police station on Sainte Croix to report a case of domestic violence. The 30-year-old explained that she had been living at rue Piéton Père Laval, Sainte Croix with her partner and his brother since January of this year.

Her brother-in-law, she said, fights with her regularly over money because he is a drug addict. On Thursday, November 16, at around 9:30 p.m., she was in her bedroom when her brother-in-law picked up her Huawei Y 9 cell phone after an argument over money, and smashed it. He also damaged a circuit breaker and several glass panels. The young woman says she fears for her safety.
