Must Read

A director of a refrigerated products import and distribution company has filed a complaint against two of his salesmen for wire fraud. He accused them of stealing Rs 1,442,940 and Rs 4,377,767 respectively from his company based in the Pailles region, making a total of Rs 5,820,707.

The 42-year-old director went to the Pailles police station on Tuesday afternoon to lodge a complaint of wire fraud. In detail he explained the activities of his company engaged in the import and distribution of refrigerated products in Mauritius. Each salesman, he said, is equipped with an electronic device for the sale of refrigerated products throughout the country.

This electronic device has been installed by a company.  Each salesman has a personal password which he uses when he makes a sale. After an investigation it was found that one of his salesmen used his electronic device fraudulently to rob the company of Rs 1,442,940 between September 27, 2022 and March 11, 2023. This employee could not give any explanation for this.

Another salesman fraudulently pocketed Rs 4,377,767 between December 30, 2021 and March 9, 2023. Since March this year, these two salesmen have not come to work. The director submitted two letters to the police investigators which he gave to these two employees as stipulated by the labour law.

The Criminal Investigation Division (CID) of the Metropolitan Police of the southern division was seized of this case.
