Information obtained by elements of the Field Intelligence Office (FIO) of the Southern Division allowed their colleagues of the Criminal Investigation Division to arrest this Thursday, December 9, two individuals, residents of Beau-Bassin, for a case of robbery with violence committed at the home of a 77-year-old man in Terrasson, Pointe aux Sables.   The man identified Nitish Ramdhun, 30 years old and Jean Denis Raoul, a 37-year-old mason, as his assailants. These two men had taken a loot estimated at Rs 55 000. The police only recovered a wedding ring.

It is on Monday, December 6 that the septuagenarian was surprised to find himself face to face with two individuals who broke into his kitchen at around 4:30 pm. The two men, dressed in black and equipped with a sword and a knife, tied up the septuagenarian before taking him to his room.

Threatened, he was forced to show the two thugs his cupboard in which he kept his jewelry and money.  His two assailants left with a gold chain with a cross as a medallion, three rings, costume jewelry and a sum of Rs 15 000. This sum represents almost all of her retirement pension and her year-end bonus. The victim suffered injuries to his arms.

Nitish Ramdhun and Jean Denis Raoul have confessed to be the perpetrators of this robbery with violence. Nitish Ramdhun returned to the investigators a wedding ring that they stole from the man’s home.  They were brought before the Court of Bambous this Friday morning, December 10. Afterwards, they were taken back to the police cell.

The CID continues its investigation to find the stolen jewelry that the two suspects say they have already sold.
