A police operation mounted this Friday morning, July 15, in Saint Michel, Grand-Gaube resulted in the seizure of 7.6 grams of heroin and a sum of Rs 17,625 suspected to be from the sale of this drug. The market value of this drug is Rs 114 000. This case led to the arrest of two suspects, the brothers, Brice Anferny Curpanen, 25 years and Harvais Curpanen, 55 years. The two suspects were brought before the court of Pamplemousses where they were charged with drug trafficking. They were then taken back to the police cell.
It was around 6:40 am this Friday morning, July 15, that a team of the Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (ADSU) of Trou-aux-Biches, under the supervision of the Assistant Superintendent of Police, Rajendranath Jhurry and supported by the Marcos commando team of the National Coast Guard and men of the Special Suppurting Unit, arrived at the home of this Curpanen family, which is suspected of being involved in drug trafficking.
The house of Brice Curpanen was subjected to a search. This exercise made it possible to find a white plastic cylindrical tube in which there were 66 doses of heroin wrapped in aluminum, a roll of partially used bacofoil and the sum of Rs 17,625 suspected to come from the sale of the drug.
The brother of this young man, Harvais Curpanen, who lives at the same address, was also arrested. The two brothers were taken to the ADSU office in Grand Bay for questioning before being presented in court.
