Cedric Jean Benoit Brette, 33 years old and resident of Montée Bastille, Trou D’Eau Douce was brought before the court of Flacq this Thursday, March 2 on a provisional charge of drug trafficking. On the morning of the same day, he was apprehended at his home during a raid carried out by elements of the Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (Adsu). He was found in possession of a large plastic container with two kilos of cannabis. The market value of this drug is Rs 2 400 000.
It is around 6:30 am this Thursday February 2 that a team of Adsu of the division of the east searched the house of this thirty-year-old. They had information that he was involved in drug trafficking. After hours of surveillance, these police officers decided to raid his home. A search conducted in his yard and in his house. This exercise resulted in finding a large blue plastic container in his house. It contained a plastic bag in which there were two kilos of cannabis.
He was arrested for drug trafficking with intent to sell under aggravated circumstances. After his appearance in court, Cedric Brette was taken back to the police cell.
On the other hand, Marie Jacques Sivanaden Madré, a 51 year old fishmonger living in Les Salines, Port-Louis was arrested Tuesday morning, March 1st, for drug trafficking. He was found in possession of 2.1 kilos of cannabis, with a street value of Rs 2,520,000. This man whose movements were monitored by the Adsu men of the Port was arrested around 7:50 am in possession of a backpack. This one contained a plastic bag with 350 grams of cannabis, another bag with 500 grams of this drug, a parcel with brown adhesive tape containing 950 grams of cannabis and another plastic bag with 300 grams of the same drug. A sum of Rs 6900 suspected to be from the sale of this drug was seized.
