Tourism: Quarantine Reduced To Seven Days

Must Read

The protocol is also changing in tourism. As from 1st September, Mauritius will only require a 7-day quarantine for all travellers who have been vaccinated and have a negative PCR test dated at least 72 hours before boarding. This marks the preparation for the ‘No restriction opening’ of October 1st.

This is a decision of the Ministry of Tourism issued in a statement on the MTPA’s website. This decision has been made possible due to the increasing vaccination campaign. 63% of the adult population is primo-vaccinated and 56% of the adult population has completed the two doses as stated in the release and by Arvind Bundhun, the director of the MTPA, who says: “This is a big step towards the full reopening of our borders on October 1, when vaccinated international travellers will be welcomed without restrictions. Visitors with negative PCR test done 72 hours prior to boarding will be able to explore the island freely upon arrival

Both the vaccinated visitors and Mauritians will have to book their hotel from the list of “Resort Bubble” available on the mauritiusnow.com website. What does not change is for the non-vaccinated individuals who will have to continue their 14-day quarantine in hotels set up for this purpose, as is currently the case.
