Three Grade 6 Students File Assault Charges Against Their Teacher

Must Read

Three complaints were registered at the Abercrombie, St. Croix police station on the morning of Friday, March 3 against a teacher at the Government of St. Croix Elementary School. Three Grade 6 students allege that they were assaulted by this teacher, who accuses them of stealing his four markers and his money.

These three instances of assault by this teacher allegedly occurred between 1:30 and 2:15 p.m. on Thursday, March 2. In a first complaint this Friday, March 3, a schoolboy of 11 years, who lives in the city Briquetterie, Sainte Croix, explained, in the presence of his uncle, that he and his classmates went to the art class. This teacher arrived in class was around 14:15, Thursday, March 2 and began to blame the students of this class for having stolen his four markers and his money. But these students all denied these accusations. He grabbed them by their shirts and led them to the office. This student alleges that this teacher slapped him twice.

An 11-year-old student also complained of the same treatment. She gave her statement in the presence of her mother. On the same day, at about 2:00 p.m., she was in the physical education class, when this teacher, who is an instructor, entered the classroom. He grabbed her by the collar of her blouse and slapped her twice on her right cheek. He then took her to the office. This physical education instructor suspects that this schoolgirl removed a marker from her bag to write on the board.

Another schoolgirl, aged 11, gave her statement in the presence of her mother to relate how at around 1:30 p.m., this teacher said to her, “to couma enn zenfant lor lari, to koumadir bourik,” before asking the other students in the class to follow him to the office. The girl alleges that this teacher pinched her on the chin and slapped her twice. At the time, the school official was not at his desk.

An investigation was initiated into this case at the Abercrombie Police Station.
