Bérenger Deplores Insecurity And Violence Against Women

Must Read

Yesterday, the MMM’s women’s wing organized a ceremony to mark International Women’s Day, which will be celebrated on 8 March. Paul Bérenger said that “since its creation, the MMM has always been a feminist party“. He expressed his fear that today there is a great risk that the ongoing digital revolution will increase inequalities between men and women. He explained that women occupy only 22% of the positions in the field of Artificial Intelligence worldwide. “37% of women worldwide do not use the Internet. In Mauritius, according to Statistics Mauritius, 25%, including men and women, do not use the Internet and 53% do not use the computer. Who are the most penalized? Women once again,” he said. The MMM leader also denounced insecurity and violence against women in general. He said that an UN study has established that 38% of women in the world have already been victims of violence.

Paul Bérenger recalled that the Mauves immediately condemned the aggression in Ukraine. He added that one must study history to understand what happened. “We condemn the Russian aggression. But we know that the United States and especially NATO have a great deal of responsibility for what has happened to Ukraine and what has happened in the world since the end of the Cold War,” he said. For him, everyone must assume their responsibilities in the drama we are witnessing.
