After the Private Notice Question this morning, Ministers Bobby Hurreeram, Joe Lesjongard and Maneesh Gobin held a press briefing.
The infrastructure minister questioned the timing of the leak of the report of the Magistrate Vidya Mungroo-Jugurnauth. He said it was an attempt by the Opposition to hide the real culprit and blame everything on the government. Joe Lesjongard and Maneesh Gobin insisted that there are no proofs that the findings leaked in the press are those of the Magistrate Vidya Mungroo-Jugurnath. They insisted that the report tabled by the leader of the Opposition bears no signature and seal of the District Court. This means, according to them, that it is not an authenticated document.
Joe Lesjongard said that the document presented to the Assembly is not certified and that the Prime Minister cannot answer questions on a report that is not authentic.
The Attorney General Maneesh Gobin said again that an investigation cannot be conducted through the press. He maintained that all institutions involved are taking this case seriously.
