As it is the case each year, the flaws concerning the use of public funds have been highlighted by the National Audit Office. The director, Charanjivsingh Romooah, made a series of critics and gave the financial situation of the country as at 30th June 2021. For example, the National Audit Office criticized the fact that 150,000 doses of flu vaccine were ordered by the Ministry of Social Security and, after the expiration date in December 2021, 56,900 doses at a cost of Rs 16.5 million had to be discarded. The audit office says it does not understand why the Ministry of Social Security ordered double its normal order in 2021. It also draws attention to the poor conditions in which these vaccines were stored. Moreover, 2,000 vaccines are unavailable. The Ministry explained that priority was given to Covid-19 vaccines.
