A Motorcyclist Dies In An Accident

An investigation was initiated at the police station of Vacoas to shed light on the circumstances in which a car of the brand Peugeot and a motorcycle of the brand Yamaha collided in Bonne Terre, Vacoas in the late afternoon of Saturday March 26. According to the driver of the car, Laval Marchellino Matour Beeharee, 50 years old, also known as Bebe and living in Barkly, Beau-Bassin, who was on a motorcycle, ran a red light in front of him. The motorcyclist succumbed to his injuries on the morning of Monday March 28 at the Victoria Hospital, Candos.  The autopsy performed on his body attributed his death to hemorrhagic shock due to an injury to his right lower limb. The number of deaths on our roads to date is twenty.

It was around 4:30 pm on Saturday, March 26 that this collision between this car and this motorcycle took place on the Royal Road of Bonne-Terre. The orange Peugeot was coming from the direction of Closel and was driving towards Solférino N0 2, not far from the Indian Oil service station. The driver of the car, a 57 year old entrepreneur and resident of Vacoas explained in his statement that he stopped because the traffic light turned red. He said he started when the light turned green. Suddenly the motorcycle came in front of his car. The collision was unavoidable even though he braked. The motorcyclist was injured. An ambulance from the Emergency Medical Service was sent to the scene to transport him to the hospital in Candos. He was admitted to the high dependency ward.

Marchellino Beeharee breathed his last at 8:20 a.m. Monday morning, March 28. The autopsy performed by Dr. Maxwell Monvoisin, Principal Police Medical Officer, attributed his death to hemorrhagic shock due to an injury to his right lower limb.

The funeral of Marchellino Beeharee took place on Tuesday, March 29. The funeral ceremony took place in the Adventist church of Cite Barky at 2 pm. He was then buried in the Saint Louis cemetery in Petite-Rivière.
