Rajessen Desscann was elected president of the Mauritius Table Tennis Association (AMTT) on Friday 10 September 2021 at the annual general meeting of the AMTT. He succeeds Vimal Basanta Lala who has been in office since December 2016.
“I am very happy to have been led to this position. It is an honour for me. The work for the progress of the discipline will continue. As a former table tennis player I will also look after the welfare of the table tennis players,” said Rajessen Desscann.
A former elite table tennis player, ten times national champion in singles, Rajessen Desscann ended his career with a gold medal in the men’s singles tournament at the 2007 Indian Ocean Games (IOG) in Madagascar.
A co-opted member of the AMTT at the 2016 Annual General Meeting, Rajessen Desscann was the national coach of the discipline for a decade before being promoted to the position of technical manager in 2017 after the arrival of the national technical director (DTN), Frenchman Cedric Rouleau.
