What is this white powder that was in five envelopes addressed to five ministers from the post office of Montagne-Longue? This is what the Forensic Science Laboratory is trying to solve
Five envelopes, bearing the names of five ministers, including that of Prime Minister, Pravind Jugnauth, were deposited on Thursday, July 22, by mail at the Pope Hennessey Police Station. The five envelopes, as usual, were scanned by the police officer on duty at the time.
He had discovered that these envelopes each contained a white powder. He immediately gave the alert and proceeded with the usual security measures. The five A4 envelopes were addressed to several ministers and had been mailed to Montagne Longue. The stamps and the seals of post were authentic.
The envelopes are A4 size.
The results of the analysis will be known in the next few hours.
