Student Falls To His Death At Seven Cascades In Henrietta

A very sad story this Wednesday. The lifeless body of Mohammad Altaf Hosenbocus, 17 years old, a student in Lower Six at John Kennedy College in Beau-Bassin was recovered from the first basin of the Seven Cascades in Henrietta on Tuesday evening, October 5. The teenager, who lives in Camp Fidel, Henrietta, used to go to this place for a walk. His body was transported to the morgue of the Victoria Hospital, Candos to be autopsied. The autopsy was performed this Wednesday morning, October 6, by Dr. Sudesh Kumar Gungadin, Principal Police Medical Officer, who attributed her death to a skull fracture.

It was his father, Aslam Hosenbocus, 48, who alerted the Vacoas police station shortly after 5 p.m. after his son’s prolonged absence. Immediately after a team of police officers from the police station of Vacoas, led by the officer Cadet, Christian, went to the place. A search was organized, but the young man remained unaccounted for. However, they found his personal belongings, including a blue bag, his cell phone, his helmet and his motorcycle Motomax.

The assistance of the Mauritian Police Task Force and the Mauritius Fire and Rescue Service was requested. It was only around 7:30 pm on Tuesday evening, October 5, that the body of Altaf Hosenbocus was discovered underwater in the first basin of the Seven Cascades by the GIPM frogmen. Half an hour later, the teenager’s body was recovered and taken to the Victoria Hospital morgue.

The autopsy performed by Dr. Gungadin attributed the death to a skull fracture. He also found several fractures to the teenager’s ribs. An investigation has been opened to determine the exact circumstances of this tragedy. Already the police favored, a case of accident. Altaf Hosenbocus would have made an accidental fall.
