Public Service To Promote Employment For The Disabled

Must Read

The Department of Public Service has decided to conduct a study on the number of disabled people the department currently employs. The purpose is to ensure compliance with Chapter 27 of the UN Convention of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UBCRPD).

This convention was signed by the Mauritian government in January 2010. As a signatory to this convention, Mauritius is called upon to take appropriate actions to promote human rights and fundamental rights of persons with disabilities without discrimination. Chapter 27 of the UNCRPD emphasizes that countries that are signatories to this convention must safeguard and promote the labor rights of persons with disabilities in the public service.

In a circular issued yesterday, the Secretary for Public Service, Bojrazsinghg Boyramboli invites the disabled to participate in this initiative by filling out an online circular at the following address: http://tiny.one/civilsurvey or to fill out forms manually. The forms must be sent to the SPS office by October 29, 2021. It is also noted that once completed, the contents of the flyers will remain confidential. This study will be beneficial for the training of public employees, the Department of Public Service maintains.
