Spor pou lekor starts this Friday, August 27. Initiated by Pascal Laroulette, this national project aims to get young people out of the hell of drugs through sports. Sports activities will be held from this Friday.
The fight against drugs will be won through sports. The social activist, Pascal Laroulette is convinced of this, hence the project Spor pou lekor: “After a visit to a city, I saw young people devastated by drugs. After much reflection, I said to myself that it is possible to keep young people away from this scourge through sport.
After several months of work and partnership, the awareness begins this Friday: “The momentum is national. Volunteers across the island have taken the initiative to organize sports activities in their localities. As for me, accompanied by Emmeline Potié, 26 years and Jean Jacques Lafrance, 13 years, we will cover a course of 100 km that will end at the top of Pieter Both, from where we will launch a message to youth. Other strategies will be unveiled in the coming months so that the sport does not devalue like the Mauritian rupee.”
As a reminder, the project is supported by the following individuals and institutions. They will organize activities this Friday and during the weekend in their respective localities: Lilian Eymeric – swimming in Black River. Gilbert Veerasamy – soccer, aerobics, swimming in Quatre Bornes. Wersley Lutchoomanan – soccer in Pointe-aux-Sables. Jonathan Arsene – Trail School in Barkly. Vatel through its students. Father Henri Souchon School through his students. Marc Li of the Mauritian diaspora in Canada. Didier Sooben of the Reunion Island diaspora. Eric Triton and Stephan Buckland are also supporting the project.
