A 20-year-old French tourist alleges that he was the victim of a case of robbery with violence on the evening of Sunday, February 26. He was standing in front of the guest house where he is staying when he was accosted by four individuals. Under the threat of a knife, he was forced to hand over his Iphone 12, his visa card and his PIN code to the thieves. A sum of Rs 2000 was withdrawn from his account. In addition, using his phone, an amount of Rs 6500 was spent on an online betting site. He estimated the value of this theft to be Rs 50,500. The Criminal Investigation Division (CID) of Mahébourg has been seized of this investigation, but so far, no witness has come forward to support the version of this young French student.

He told the investigators that he was under the influence of alcohol when he was attacked and that he will not be able to identify his attackers. CID officers interviewed several witnesses at the busy location where the assault took place. No one came forward to support the version of this young French tourist.

The young Frenchman arrived in Mauritius on February 21 and was supposed to leave the country on Sunday March 5.
