Seventy-Year-Old In The Dock

Must Read

A 72-year-old man is facing a provisional charge of elder abuse in Flacq Court. He is alleged to have committed the offence against his 74 year old sister during the evening of Sunday 21 November in Mare La Chaux.

It was shortly before 9pm on Sunday evening, November 21, that the complainant went to the Belle-Mare police station to file a complaint against her brother. She explains that following an argument with members of her family who live in the same yard concerning the construction of a concrete step, the situation degenerated and her brother slapped her on her right cheek. This blow was so violent that she was thrown to the ground.

In the same evening, a team of policemen, led by sergeant Gokhool, proceeded to the arrest of this 72 years old man. After his interrogation, he was released on parole, given his age.

However, he had to go to the Belle Mare police station on the morning of Monday, November 22, before he was brought before the Court of Flacq.

He was later released on bail.
