Rs 1.6 Million Of Drug Found In Gardener’s Home

A villa was searched this Tuesday morning, August 30, by police officers of the Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (ADSU) of Chemin-Grenier at Domaine Belle Rivière, Beau-Champ, Bel Ombre. The exercise led to the discovery of 17 cannabis plants, 1.3 kilos of cannabis and 43 packets of the same drug at the home of Louis Kevin Mangue, a 45-year-old gardener. The total amount is estimated at Rs 1.6 million.

Drug Trafficking - Louis Kevin Mangue

It was on the basis of certain information and after hours of surveillance that the assault was given in this villa occupied by Kevin Mangue, who was suspected of drug trafficking.  The information from the ADSU proved to be true. The team, led by sergeants Sauteur, Pydigadu and FFokeer, discovered a cannabis crop in the yard, consisting of 17 plants measuring between 16 and 60 centimetres. In the villa there were 1.3 kilos of cannabis and 43 packets of the same drug, amounting to 57.84 grams.

Louis Kevin Mangue

Kevin Mangue is not known in the ADSU community. He was taken to the ADSU office in Rose-Belle before being placed in police custody. This Wednesday morning, August 31, he will be brought before the Souillac court where he will face two provisional charges of drug trafficking, cultivation of cannabis and possession of cannabis for sale.

The ADSU has opened an investigation to find out where the drugs came from. The police intend to object to Kevin Mangue’s release on bail.
