‘RRR’ First Indian Film To Earn A Nomination At Hollywood Critics Association Awards

Unlike any other Indian film before, SS Rajamouli’s epic action-drama ‘RRR’ has captivated western audiences resulting in a nomination in Hollywood Critics Association (HCA) Awards. The film will compete in the Best Picture category against mega blockbusters like ‘Top Gun: Maverick’, ‘The Batman’, ‘The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent’, and ‘Elvis’ for the top spot.

The film has garnered rave reviews with American actor Steve Agee, who is known for playing John Economos in The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker saying he was mighty impressed with Rajamouli’s RRR.

According to DNA, Doctor Strange writer C. Robert Cargill expressed his view about the film and called it the ‘craziest, weirdest blockbuster.’ Robert mentioned that he will watch the film once again. Earlier, Patton Oswalt, who is an actor and a comedian, also praised Ram Charan and Jr. NTR starter

Earlier, American Crime Story writer Larry Karaszewski, Spider-Man into the Spider-Verse producer Christopher Miller and Jackson Lanzing, who has written titles such as Captain America and Batman Beyond, among others had also showered praises on the film.

On May 20, two months after the blockbuster’s theatrical release – Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada versions of RRR started streaming on ZEE5. The Hindi version is on Netflix.

The film is set in 1920. Rama Rao Jr and Charan play the roles of revolutionaries like Komaram Bheem and Alluri Sitarama Raju, respectively, who take on the might of the British empire, according to WION. The film also features Ajay Devgn and Alia Bhatt in important roles.

Breaking innumerable box office records, RRR has minted around Rs 1150 crore at the box office.
